Amrita yoga is a form of vinyasa yoga with influences from Ayurveda, physical therapy, neuroscience, yoga philosophy and psychology, pranayama, and mindfulness. The amrita yoga style emphasizes the bio-mechanics of alignment, anatomy, kinesiology, and rehabilitative processes.
Taught in alignment with the rhythms of nature, Ayurveda teaches that our yoga practice (and our life) ought to be in harmony with the seasons as well as the times of day and our personal life cycles.
An Amrita yoga surya class is dynamic and focuses on practices that energize, cleanse, promote vitality, build stamina, strength, and resilience, including sun salutations, vinyasa, standing poses, arm balances, backbends, and inversions. Integrating mindfulness, breath and bandhas, the practice is dynamic, cohesive, trance-inducing, and meditative.
